With the Wind With the wind I leave my burdened heart a while for to catch my breath In the curves of every corner of the dunes and the wonky trees the breeze bringing in the salty sea finding peace if only for a moment Milky foam and feathered clouds are up and down, I am in between something’s brewing in the water, golly gee am I wasted? blushing cheeks I think I might be trembling Undersea a sudden invitation Rose-hip bushes are invasive so they say, but it’s the one I love in the summer, scented petals of their rose Is simply irresistible love is never easy wild it grows never to be held down From the waves a singing choir Singing songs much older than time From the sky a golden chamber With a tale much older than time

Don't You Grow Weary Music & Lyrics: Ida Wenøe (c) 2023 I tend to go looking at water When I need some peace in my heart I like to go looking at something That does what it does cause it does Don’t you grow weary on me now There’s still so much to do, much to see So don’t you grow weary on me I tend to go looking at skylines When I need to see there is more The body is filled with restriction But out there the mind can be free Don’t you grow weary on me now There’s still so much to do, much to see Don’t you grow weary on me now Just cause it’s hard it will not always be So don’t you grow weary on me I tend to go looking at moonlight When I cannot sleep cannot rest There’s something about light in darkness Reminds me there’s always a way Don’t you grow weary on me now There’s still so much to do, much to see Don’t you grow weary on me now There’s still so much to do, much to see So don’t you grow weary on me

about

'Undersea' is the new album by Danish Music Award winner Ida Wenøe, released via Songcrafter Music on 6th October 2023 across digital platforms and on vinyl.

Written and recorded in two weary old summer houses on the west coast of Jutland (DK), the new songs see Ida return to the hushed, simple intimacy of her acclaimed debut LP 'Time of Ghosts', with nature, wild water and the range of human emotion lyrically centre stage, and the sounds of the trees, ocean, birds and stormy weather all making cameo appearances.

The album was produced by Ida, mixed by Dennis Ahlgren (Tina Dico, Teitur) and mastered by Icelandic wizard Sigurdor Gudmundsson. Ida’s personal take on contemporary folk-noir blends beautifully with more traditional influences, augmented with the personality of recorded contributions from Scottish-born musicians Hal Parfitt-Murray (strings) and Samantha Whates (flute, backing vocals).

Of what will be her third studio album, Ida says:

"Undersea is an album about all those emotions your try to bury deep, that always find their way to the surface whether you like it or not. I wrote these songs in solitude with just the ocean for company. The sea can be peaceful; it can be wild and turbulent. It can stir up trouble, it can kill you, it can save you, calm you, wash you clean or swallow you up. Though often filled with mystery and darkness, when the light hits its surface it can be the most golden thing existing."

The album has been financially supported by MPO, KODA Kultur, Dansk Artist Forbund & DPA.

Ida Wenøe Copenhagen, Denmark

Amongst a digital mountain range littered with accomplished folk-ish bands and singersongwriters,
it is a rare miracle to come across a cave so rich in jewels as the one beneath
Ida Wenøe’s ribcage. Clash Magazine‘s description of her sound as being “bewitching acid
folk with a deeply personal edge…”
